What is Our Mission?

Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:18-20 was to “Go into all the world and make disciples.” Paul instructed Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” Our instructions are that “we proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).

Hope2020 is a win-build-send movement that has spiritual multiplication as its goal. In this time of global pandemic, we are seeking to win people to Christ, build them in their faith, and send them out to reach others.

Win

The first step to forming missionary disciples is to lead people to a life-shaping encounter with Jesus Christ—one in which they become a true disciple of Jesus, where Christ is not just a part of their lives but becomes the very center. Many people might know about Jesus and the Catholic Faith. But a disciple is someone who knows Jesus personally. Jesus himself says, “This is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (John 17:3). In the win stage, our goal is to invite people to this kind of relationship with Christ. This requires being where people are and presenting the gospel in a way that invites them to respond with a decision. While it is God’s job to cultivate a heart change of belief, it is our role to be messengers of the good news by taking it wherever they are and in every possible way. When it comes to strategy, we have the tools, resources, and creativity to do evangelism in many different ways. Whether it's with an individual or in a group, the important thing is that we are taking steps of faith by sharing the gospel with the hope that God will use it to change lives.

Build

After a person has made a decision to receive Christ, our work is not finished. It is important that we come alongside new believers and help guide them in the process of maturing in their faith. First it is important to follow up with new believers to help them establish a firm foundation and understanding of what their decision means. Then through discipleship and training the process of spiritual maturity continues as what it means to be in relationship with Christ, love him, and how to imitate him is modeled to them. But we don’t just talk about these things, we model Christian leadership for them. This can also be done from a distance using the many opportunity technology has given us. “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Send

Jesus said, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples” (John 15:8). The final step in the process is to develop converts into leaders that have a desire to see others come to Christ like they did. Along with the training and equipping to have the ability to share their faith, we also provide opportunity for them to be in leadership and develop as leaders in the many digital evangelistic and discipleship activities we do. With these opportunities, believers can step into leadership roles and carry out the mission of winning people to Christ and making disciples, which in turn continues the cycle of win-build-send.
